Maple Cinnamon Oatmeal
A good way to entice the kids out of bed on an early school day is the smell of cozy maple cinnamon oatmeal floating up from the kitchen.
This homemade recipe gives you more control over the ingredients and sweetness. Many flavored instant oatmeal packets contain more added sugar and sodium than a simple bowl made from rolled oats, milk, cinnamon, and your own preferred sweetener.
🍽 Servings: 3 Cook Time: 10 Mins
🛒 Ingredients
3 cups raw milk
1½ cups gluten-free rolled oats
⅓ cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Salt, or to taste
🔪 Instructions
Add the milk to a medium saucepan and bring it just to a boil over medium-high heat, watching closely so it doesn’t boil over.
Stir in the rolled oats and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until everything is well combined.
Continue cooking for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the oatmeal has thickened to your preferred consistency.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the oatmeal sit for a few minutes. It will continue to thicken slightly as it cools.
Spoon into bowls and serve warm. Add an extra sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
